Carole Adamsbaum was a nurse first and entered sexuality education when she attended Montclair State University and started her teaching career. (Parsippany Hills High School, Adjunct Professor at Montclair State University, William Paterson University, Kean University) For 32 years (1975-2007) she was a sexuality educator and practiced during some of the most amazing changes in the field. SIECUS, SSSS,AASECT were forming and reforming. There was enthusiasm, vision, energy and excitement. Being a part of it was wonderful. Happily that has continued but sadly we are still fighting many of the same battles.
Carole has retired from teaching (2007) but continues to work as a Mental Health Screener and Psychiatric nurse at Saint Clare’s Hospital, Denville, NJ. She is also a resource parent in the Foster Care System. She has cared for many teens and gets to do sex ed again and again. I’m still at it guys.
