Stephanie Zapata is a Bronx thorough bred (Yerrr)- unapologetic and queer AF, Boricua sex educator. She comes to NSEC with 7 years experience in the field. Having previously received a Certification of Merit from Bronx Borough President, Ruben Diaz Junior, for her work with the LGBTQ+ community- Stephanie is no stranger to the fight for sexual/reproductive freedom. Despite identifying as both bad and bougie, Stephanie continues to remain humble in her journey toward liberation through education. Her passion for this work lies in centering Black, Brown, Indigenous, Queer, low-income and other marginalized communities, whom she has worked exclusively with and for throughout her career. Stephanie adamantly opposes respectability politics rooted in white supremacy and rejects the notion that an educator should look or speak a certain way in order to be considered professional. Her goal is to make learning as accessible, inclusive, and interactive as possible. Throughout her sessions you are likely to find pop culture references, memes and gifs galore. She ain’t your momma’s health ed teacher.
