Is It Time to Close the Book on Sex Education?
- Presentation speakers
With dramatic declines in teen pregnancy rates, and sexual information just a click away for young people, has the need for sex education come and gone? This keynote will review national and state data on trends in sex education, in both classrooms and online, in the context of the changing policy and funding environment. The increased emphasis on an evidence-based approach to sex education offers opportunities, but potential pitfalls as well. We will review federal policies, state laws, school policies, and what’s really happening on the ground. All these factors matter in the goal of helping young people access quality comprehensive sex education.
