2017 Call for Proposals is NOW OPEN!!
We highly encourage you to read through all of the information on this page.
But if you just can’t wait, or you’ve already done that:
The National Sex Ed Conference is hosted by The Center for Sex Education. This is the largest conference in the United States designed exclusively for sexuality educators. We encourage the submission of proposals that address sexuality education for all ages, in all types of settings, and we especially love proposals for workshops that are highly interactive and give participants materials they can replicate.
So, Who Will Attend?
Sexuality educators, health educators, professors, school teachers, nurses, counselors, case managers, social workers, therapists, & many more…
What kind of workshop should I propose?
Ideally something highly interactive! Our attendees love a workshop where they walk away with practical information they can use in their classrooms – including lists of tips, activities descriptions, lesson plans, and more.
What do I need to submit?
We strongly encourage you take the time in advance to gather the information below. The submission process asks for a lot of information, and may take some time to complete. Yes, you can save your work and come back at a later time to complete.
If you are co-presenting, both presenters will need to create profiles in the system, and complete the biographical portion. Only one presenter will need to take the lead on the proposals, and the other presenter(s) can be linked to the presentation.
The following information is requested in the submission process. Not all information is required.
- Workshop title
- Workshop description (50 words)
- Workshop rationale (100 words)
- SMART learning objectives (find details here: http://www.SexEdConference.com/SMART)
- Activity Outline
- Headshot/Photograph (optional)
- Preferred presentation length (60 vs. 90 minutes)
- Preferred presentation day (Thursday, Friday, or Saturday)
- NCHEC Responsibilities and Competencies that may apply (hint: most fall under areas II and III, 7 possible choices)*
- AASECT Core Knowledge Areas*
- Will your presentation include lesson plans and/or activities participants can replicate?
- Is the presentation lecture-based, or interactive?
- Self-check: is you workshop inclusive? Consider language used, images, activities, populations, etc.
*Why do I need to submit this information?*
The National Sex Ed Conference provides continuing education for several certifications, including social work, NCHEC, and AASECT. We ask presenters to submit the activity form, identify the NCHEC Responsibilities and Competencies, as well as identify the AASECT Core Knowledge Areas, because that information is required by the accrediting organizations to provide continuing education. You do not need to be a social worker, NCHEC, or AASECT to present; this information validates our ability to provide continuing education.
If you have further questions, please email us at email@example.com directly.
